theatre:
jackie
Written by Elfriede Jelinek
Jackie explores the life of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. While originally a one-woman, 17-page monologue with limited stage directions, our rendition splits Jackie into five different versions, placing her in conversation with herself as a teenager, newlywed, widow, divorcee, and on the brink of death. Starring a diverse cast, the “Jackies” explore the moments leading up to JFK's assassination and the aftermath, his infamous affair with Marilyn Monroe, and the intersection of hyperbolized public perception and internal insecurity to create a new understanding of how Jackie Kennedy operates within our current cultural context. “I am the clothes, and the clothes are me.”
